
Thomas William Selleck is an American actor from the United States. His most notable part was as Thomas Magnum, a private investigator in Magnum, P.I. He was nominated for five Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Lead Actor In the Drama Series (1980-1988) and received the Emmy Award in 1985. In the TV series Blue Bloods, Selleck has appeared as Frank Reagan, New York City Police Commissioner. In nine TV movies inspired by the Robert B. Parker novels, he played Jesse Stone, a troubled small-town police chiefwho began his career in the year 2005. Selleck also played Peter Mitchell who was a student architect and a bachelor architect, in Three Men and a Baby (1987), and Three Men and A Little Lady(1990). In addition to his role in Magnum, P.I., Selleck has been seen in more than 50 movies and television shows, which include the films Quigley Down Under, Mr. Lassiter and baseball. He appeared in frequent television characters as Monica Geller's love interest Dr. Richard Burke on Friends and as Lance White, the likeable and naive partner on The Rockford Files, and as casino owner A.J. Cooper in Las Vegas. He also played a part in the lead role on the television western The Sacketts, based on two of Louis L'Amour's books.Selleck is a California Army National Guard veteran and a spokesperson for the National Rifle Association (NRA) and an endorser for advertisements for National Review magazine, and co-founder of the Character Counts! organization.
